It was like Halloween, but the ladies in the Alice Kelly didn't use any tricks to get treats
If you didn’t know what was going on, you’d swear it was Halloween.
Sunday’s 37th annual Alice Kelly Memorial Ladies Only Billfish Tournament held its annual fishing and fundraising event out of Pirate’s Cove Marina in Manteo and the women didn’t miss a beat with their team outfits.
All that fun came after the 78 teams battled to catch fish, raise money and take home a few honors.
At its conclusion, the teams caught and released 202 total fish - 145 sailfish, 14 white marlin, 10 blue marlin, 23 dolphin, two wahoo and five yellowfin tuna.
Team Game Changer-Aquaholics captured the title with 800 points on eight sailfish caught by Jaclyn Hall, Jamie kirks, Mary-Vaughan Dunn, Rachel Webster, Chelsea Campbell, Kelli Hodges and two by Gigi Ramirez.
Katie Theil’s 10.8-pound dolphin caught on Team Runaway won the division and the dolphin jackpot.
Brittany “Dani” Trexler’s 53.4-pound yellowfin tuna caught on Sea Creature-Gills of Your Dreams won that division.
Team Tarheel won the billfish jackpot with 800 points. The team finished second to Game Changer I the overall standings because of time of catch.

Next on the local offshore tournament scene is the 43rd annual Pirate’s Cove Billfish Tournament hits the water Tuesday before concluding on Friday.
